so, on first turn of the key, i hear the fuel pump, then i try and start, and it takes a bit. if i turn the key twice, priming the pump twice, she fires right away. fuel pump problem? fuel filter? is this a common issue? 1989 fox notch 5.0L

thanx

Possibly a filter, but I'd say it's either a bad fuel pump (leaking back into tank) or a leaking injector.

I had the same problem in my 94GT Once I changed the pump it was fine.
I think it was leaking back into the tank like ponyryd said.
Good luck.
