Worldwide demand for the Audi A1

Image: http://www.gtscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Audi-A1-25-300x200.jpg (http://www.audiforum.ca)

Demand for Audi branded cars has increased on a worldwide scale and to keep up with this, the German luxury car maker have firmed up plans to launch their A1 model outside of Europe from 2011. Customers from all over the world numbering to a mammoth 150,000 have hit the dedicated website that A1 has. This number far surpasses what the company had thought or contemplated: that of 100,000 A1 units per year and that too just for the European market.

An increase of production by 20 percent is to be carried out by the team as per their sales chief Peter Schwarzenbauer. The introduction of this car into the market would also place a stiff competitive element for the BMW who have their Mini Cooper in the market as of now and no other model to compete with the A1 segment.

In a statement issued by Audi, Schwarzenbauer says, “Reports from our international dealers show us that interest in the A1 is exceeding our expectations considerably.”

When the car would enter the US and Chinese market is yet a big question. It is expected that only after 2011 the car would be in the Chinese market but such decisions need time to be formalized and finalised.

The Chinese people taking to a small Audi or not would be the deciding factor if the A1 would make it to the Chinese market and when.

Dhiaa Al-Essa, 21, has 30-strong supercar collection worth £3.5m

Student Dhiaa Al-Essa has 30 luxury motors in his garage, including four Ferraris, five Porsches, three Lamborghinis, two Rolls Royces and a Mercedes SLR McLaren.

Jealous? What makes it even worse is that he hasn’t had to lift a finger to get them – Daddy buys them.

The value of his collection is set to soar 70 per cent next year when he takes delivery of two more cars.

His Saudi business tycoon father is to buy him a Koenigsegg Agera – complete with gold key – for his 22nd birthday and the boy racer also has a Bugatti Veyron on order. The bill for the two cars comes to £3.2million.

All his vehicles have a personalised number plate featuring the figures 070 – which set him back about £100,000 a time.

The international playboy has spent the summer flying his cars to London, Montreal, Las Vegas and New York to go on driving tours with friends.

‘I love speed but the limit in Saudi Arabia is 75mph so I’m pretty limited. When the Bugatti arrives I hope to take it to Germany where you can drive as fast as you can,’ said the engineering student from Riyadh.

‘The Mercedes McLaren SLR is my favourite. I love the way it looks and drives and it’s also been reliable for a car out in 50ºC temperatures.’

But Mr Al-Essa was ‘devastated’ by the loss of his new Ferrari 458 Italia, which fell victim to the model’s jinx, being destroyed in a warehouse blaze at Heathrow this month.

The disaster forced him to use his Mercedes and even the Underground. ‘I actually love travelling on public transport,’ he said.

But his torment will be short-lived – he is replacing the wrecked 458 with the new Ferrari 599 Roadster, production number 70 of 70.

I have for sale or trade, to my knowledge, a 1968 Triumph Spitfire MKIII. Sadly the work needed to get this car back on the road is more than I can handle right now time wise and financially. The body is in ok shape… rusted in spots, has holes in the hood where someone had a hood scoop bolted on (I don’t know why). There are no seats, the original dash wood is nearly shot. I believe the convertible frame is all there, vinyl is shot. I have an extra tranny, drive shaft, front hood, trunk lid, set of rims, fuel tank and a spare chassis. Also I have a decent shape hard top, with intact glass. I have been told the hardtop alone, even though it needs work (easily repairable dent and its rusted), is worth more than the whole car restored as its hard to find them. THIS CAR HAS NO PAPERWORK!!!!!! When I got this from my uncle (after roughly 10 years of pestering) he could not find it! I can and will get pictures of the car this weekend, if there is something in particular you want, e-mail me. I am looking to get this car out of my driveway before the snow flies, as one solid deal. DO NOT want to part it out unless I know for sure all the parts will be gone quickly! I hate to do it but if the car isn’t gone soon I will just cut it up for scrap. I will consider any reasonable cash offer or trade!

I changed out my stock 2007 17" Mustang rims and tires and installed a set of 2009 18" Chrome rims with 235 X 50 X 18 BFG T/A's. Would the tire pressures be the same as what is posted on the door post of the car?

Thanks

Slalom: Mustang 55mph Camaro 51mph
Mustang was faster in the 1/4 mile, had better braking and managed 24 mpg vs Camaro's 21mpg... and historically Mustang has been more reliable.

Feel sorry for all those Camaro owners you pull up beside that bought an inferior vehicle... :D
