WMS High Velocity Intake

I'm about to purchase a CAI system for 09 V6.
The one that I'm most interested in is the WMS High Velocity Intake + Ram Air box (nodding the tuner thing till I'm off warranty).
Anyone have any experience with this system?

I've read some pretty good reviews about them in past stang magazines.But how true they are,don't know.
The thing with most cold air intakes that most don't think about,is that you want to stay with a quality plastic type intake material.The metal ones trap,and hold heat,kinda defeats the purpose really.
If you're stang is strictly a drag car,then it wouldn't matter,but for a day to day used stang,the metal tube will soak up the heat really good.
There is a reason why auto manufactures use rubber,or plastic for the stock systems.The only problem with the stocks ones is just the tube diameter,and restriction,which is the main reason to upgrade for most.

I am not sure if the V6 intake is a tuner free system. I know I will be using the 95mm WMS intake on my car once I get the 322/5.3l in there and it needs a tune, but for that matter the rest of the mods will dictate a tune as well.

Yes, my V6 is a daily driver. I figured that the short run of the WMS intake tube would allow for cooler air entering the throttle compared to the longer tubes of all the other manufacturers. The ram air component seems also to be a benefit.
Although Western Motorsports say a tune is not necessary, I'm sceptical (they also have disclaimer on their install sheet which claims the unit is for off highway use only??).
BTW, My second choice for a CAI is the K&N with the non metallic intake tube.

The WMS intake is a great intake and I believe has the greatest gains from an intake. they do have a OEM MAF configuration which does not require a tune but tuning is always a good idea when power modding. I have heard 25 HP from the WMS. I have the K&N you speak of and it to is a great CAI. i got 17 HP from the K&N.

I have the WMS elbow and fender mount intake. It still uses the stock intake tube which I think is restrictive.

I've switched to Mac.
