I had friends that did lots of things that were wrong too.... I tried to learn from it though! Seriously as noted in my first post I am only pointing out what NHRA wants for a reason, even if you don't race it is still fully logical.

Hmm, don't think mine would work there, I've got a bunch of wiring I'd have to move even if I wanted to put it there, unlike the SN95s, there seem to be a llot less space betweem the shock tower and firewall, so if I put mine there it might interfere with the hood closing brackets, not to mention my rubber lines would now be running across my downpipe

which I think is a worse iidea than on the firewall.
One option that I had considered was mounting on the underside of the sway bar brackets, and running my rubber lines to the bottom of the steel fuel return line. My worry there is that istead of being right there at the return connector off the regulator that my 12:1 fuel increase will "lag" if you know what I mean.
Any other thoughts or suggestions would be helpful, as I don't want to end up Crispy Scones
