Hey guys. Today i was driving home from work and noticed a slight squeaking sound coming from my engine that id never heard before. When i got home i opened the hood and found that the sound was coming from around my alternator. I cant tell if its the alternator or the pulley attached to it. I shut the engine off and sprayed a quick blast of wd40 on the pulley and it seemed to shut up for a couple mins but the sound came back. Is this something i should worry about? Should i even be spraying anything on the pulley? Is it possibly the alternator making the sound? Any help is appreciated.

Could always be your belt itself, time for a new one.

^I agree, WD will usually quiet a belt momentarily-won't do anything for a bad bearing.

So im guessing its the bearing on the pulley connected to the alternator. Its not even that loud i just noticed it one day. It didnt do it today though so im not sure whats going on.

^As previously stated-it sounds like it's most likely the belt.
