Video: 50 Years of Ford Mustang evolution

April 17, 2014 – marks the exact fifty year anniversary of the Ford Mustang, and the pony car’s birthday celebrations are happening all around the world. Yesterday Ford unveiled the 2015 Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition at the New York Auto Show, the official anniversary events are happening simultaneously in Charlotte and Las Vegas, and enthusiasts are gathering for their own celebrations all across the globe.

To commemorate the occasion Ford has also uploaded a new video showing just how the Mustang has evolved over the past fifty years. The clip demonstrates the design changes from 1965 to 1967, 1969, 2005, 2013 and 2015. Click the play button below to watch the progression for yourself, and let us know your favorite iteration in the comments section.

The front of that 69 is still the nastiest looking one of all I think. So menacing in that black with the scoop.

Clearly someone feels part of the Mustang's history does not belong between the years of '69, and '05. In my opinion, the fox era should've been in the middle... right in line in that pic/vid, why have two mustangs from the S197 era representing when one from that generation is sufficient. It's an alright vid, but meh!
I understand looking at the pic they are showing the evolution, but the most important part of the evolution isn't there, the one that is a big part of the stangs history in my opinion, the foxbody. That generation put the stang on the map again in a time when performance was dying! If it wasn't for the foxbody, and the ealy SN95, there would be nothing but dead Ford Probes lying in the back yards, and barns out in the country sides today..... cause that was the route Ford was planning on going!
Sorry for the rant.

I couldn't agree more 1LOW. I was surprised not seeing a Fox body and disappointed not to see a SN95 in there

Thanks guys, thought it was just me. The vid almost gave me that same feeling i get when i am around the older generation crowd that own the '05 plus mustang in all honesty. So it fired me off. LOL
