1969 Mustang Coupe Sale/Trade $9000 OBO

Crossposted from my Kijiji ad.

Thinking of selling or trading my '69 Mustang coupe.

Trades:

I'm looking for a standard transmission Jeep Wrangler or similar. But let me know what you have, maybe I'll be interested so it's worth a try. I'm not interested in putting any of my own cash in on a trade, so make sure what you're offering is of equal or lesser value to this Mustang.

Also, no motorcycles, please. I'm not really interested for one, and I don't have the requisite license, for two!

General:

Bought the car in January of this year. All it needed for safety was a battery and a battery tie down. It probably doesn't need much to safety again. I drive the car on average a few hours a week.

I want to get this out of the way first: Please note this is TENTATIVE. I am perfectly fine with hanging onto this car. I'm not even going to entertain really low offers, so please don't bother sending them, because you're not going to get a reply.

It's an original Canadian car, and it spent most of its life up in the Goderich area.

The car is an L code, meaning it started life with a 250 I6. This has been replaced with a Ford 289/302 block. The 250 I6 cars came equipped with the 8 cylinder suspension stuff (5-lug wheels, 8-inch rear end, etc.) so you don't have to worry about a bad conversion. I did not do this conversion, and neither did the previous owner, so I probably can't answer any detailed questions about it.

The car also originally came in Wimdledon White and with a vinyl top. As you can see, there is no more vinyl and the car is red. It's a definite 10 footer car.

The car is in need of restoration, but is perfectly driveable. I have it on the road now, actually. It's a drive it while you restore it project.

The body:

-Lower driverside quarter panel needs a patch
-Driverside tail light panel area has some bubbling, and could use a patch
-Both driverside and passengerside lower door skins need replacing
-Lip of trunk lid has rust. Probably easiest just to put a new trunk lid on it
-Glass is good. No cracks. I had to re-glue the passenger window glass in because of Ford doing it's whole glue-in glass thing.
-No fender emblems on the car. Fenders probably replaced at some point in the past
-Needs a paint job. Lots of oxidation on the hood, trunk, etc.
-I have a good condition Ford OEM hood to go with the car. It's been drilled/cut for both the '69 style scoop and for hoodpins.
-Previous owner replaced the driverside floor pan already
-Cowl looks good. Can still see some original white paint in it.
-No holes in the undercarriage. Like I said, it took nothing to safety

Engine/Transmission:

-3 speed standard trans
-Clutch return spring is a bit worn, but the clutch itself still works fine
-Older longtube headers
-New Blue Streak solenoid
-Holley 4-barrel carb
-Edelbrock Torker intake
-Pertronix Ignitor II ignition and Flame Thrower II coil
-Pertronix Ignition Relay (to give a full 12v to the Ignitor II)
-289/302 block. Not sure which.
-New oil pan, oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, water pump (2015)
-Mechanic said it needed a waterpump for an early '70s 302. Probably a 302 block, then, rather than a 289
-Does seem to leak a bit of oil still around the valve covers

Interior:

-Driver seat needs to be recovered, but you can still sit on it comfortably. Passenger seat looks okay.
-Rear seat is usable, but needs a new upper cover. Whoever installed the speaker package tray in the car tore the top cover on reinstall. See picture to see what I mean
-Headliner has holes in it, but isn't sagging. I think I might have a new one to include
-Old aftermarket tape deck doesn't work and isn't in the bezel properly. I think the power wire just isn't connected, but I didn't feel like digging around in the harness to find everything. Original radio bezel included
-Dash cover has some heat warp
-Shoulder belts need replacing. Lap belts still there and in good condition
-Heater doesn't work, but fan still blows air
-Could use new weatherstripping. Car doesn't seem to leak. I poured water down the cowl and didn't find any leaks on the interior.

Misc:

-BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires with a good amount of tread left
-Older American Racing 5-spoke rims. Could use replacing
-Replaced both front amber turn signal bulbs a couple months ago
-Manual steering
-Manual drum brakes all four corners
-New Excel GR2 shocks all 4 corners, done at the same time as oil pan etc.

It's a turn-key project car. You can drive it away. Drive it while you restore it, etc. Also it's a basic coupe, so if you want a classic to restomod or prostreet or whatever you don't have to worry about cutting up something rare.

Got questions? Please feel free to ask. Please also keep the value of my time and yours in mind, and only come to look if you're actually interested in buying or trading for the car. The car is in Thorold, which is close to St. Catharines and Niagara Falls.

I'm only interested in cash or trades. No checks, money orders, etc, and definitely no PayPal.

Looking for $9000 or reasonable offers. I don't think you're going to be able to find a driver-condition 65-70 Mustang with a V8 for this price in Ontario, so please keep that in mind when making your offer.

For those interested: I pay less than $300 a year on insurance for this car and can drive it wherever and whenever I want to. And it is fun to drive! Gets lots of looks and compliments. People love Mustangs, I guess.

Thanks for joining up to post your ad. Don't forget to check in on your ad every once and a while, can you believe we frequently get guys that only sign up to post ads and then never come back to answer questions or check on them? I know right? If you leave the ad un-attended for greater than one month (30 days) it will be removed. Welcome, and good luck with the sale, maybe add some contact info, since you likely won't be back, its a good way for people to get ahold of you other than here.
