With the US exchange so bad does anyone know of any Canadian online tire sites to get a decent price on a set of tires?
I checked Canadian Tire and Costco online sites but are there others?

I am looking for a staggered set for the new Boss LS wheels I recently bought and 19" tires are definitely steeper in price than the 18's.

Less selection in 19" for sure as I have two Fords with 19" rims.

They usually have discount coupons floating about the interweb if you search, or inquire prior to buying.

Shipping to NS is $17.95 per tire but shipping to NL (the next province over) is get this......$100 per tire.
I can get tires shipped from the US to NL for $40 including taxes and duty.

The ferry ride doesn't drive up prices that much in NL actually.
Freight does increase things for sure but not to the degree people would think on the majority of items.
Most freight coming in here comes in by container ship actually which is very economical. Fresh food typically comes by ferry though to speed up the delivery and that does add a small bit to produce.
Labrador (remote parts) does see steep increases though due to the remoteness of some of the populated areas.

It was a great lead.
I found a great price on a set of tires, set up an account, paid with credit card and got a confirmation number and so on.

THEN, a few hours later was the email "Sorry, we do not have the tires you purchased on our online site in stock. It could be 6-8 weeks or longer before we can get them".

I wasn't too happy with that and asked if they would give me any kind of discount on a different set as all of the other tires were at least $200 more for the set. I didn't want anything for free just a little discount to close the price gap on another set and for the minor inconvenience.

I got an email back offering me a set of tires at full price ($466 more than the set I tried to buy). No discount, just sorry.
Wow, what a freaking wicked deal...I ripped my credit card out of my wallet so fast the friction melted the numbers off of it and I couldn't read them anymore to take the guy up on that steal of a deal. Sucks to be me...oh well.

Gotta love the old bait and switch....thought that was just for trying to rip you on a new fridge or stove.

It seems many online companies like to do this.
They don't like to tell you in advance they do not have the items in stock and lose a sale.....they hope you make the purchase and later apologize profusely about how "suddenly" the items that shows "in stock" on their site is not in stock actually.
It is usually a minor disappointment for me if the item is not something I need "now".
In the case of the tires a $5-$10 bucks a tire discount and one of them nudie calendars would have probably buttered me up enough to bite.

Anyway......a little rant for this morning...


My quest for a decent deal on tires looks harder than I thought but it is only late February yet. I'll start worrying if I can't find something by April.

Many online retailers are just a front end. They don't stock anything. They just ship from where they get their best price, so there is no loyalty going on.
If you were closer, there's many places around here to get a deal, but shipping would increase the price to where it's not a deal.
I used to buy my motorcycle tires from N.B. or N.S. as I didn't have to pay provincial tax as it was being shipped out of province. Have you looked at this as you could easily score that 8% discount?

I've ran the gauntlet out here with trying to find a cheap tire source. My problem is I only run Nittos...and Kal tire is the only way to get them...and their prices are retarded. I cant find one tire place in the states that will ship Nittos to Canada. Kal Tire has them on lock down.


I can buy them in the US and pay shipping duties and taxes and it would still be cheaper than Kal Tire prices...gross.

That reminds me, I have a set to sell as well.
