the best way to install longtubes

i have a 96 mustang gt , and i already have the pi intake manifold installed onto my car , i am now ready to install my fully ported pi heads and mac longtube headers , should i bolt the headers onto the pi heads then install or should i do it a different way , i need some good advice here , thanks....

The easiest way to do the long tube headers is under the car with the k member out. Reason being that there is no way to slide them in from the top with the heads cause of space issues. It truly is tight in there with the modular engines. Plus the fact you will be fighting with the dipstick tube at the same time by trying to fit it back into the hole on the side of the engine.
Took my brother, and i to get the driverside head on while guiding the dipstick tube back in, and it was not easy at all, and i had my stock exhaust manifolds on. We couldn't even guide the tube threw the manifold either as it is close to the motor mount aswell. It's a tight package.
The only other way i can see it being done is if you pulled the whole engine/trans out enough to give some clearance, then install the headers, and slide the hole thing back in as a whole.
This is one reason i will never go with long tubes, because it will make clutch replacements that much more expensive, and more of a headache due to the laybour to remove just one header to be able to get the trans out, so i can get to the clutch. Especially with MAC headers as they are a tighter fit from what i have read.

ok , so removing the k member is the best way to get these in , should i install the heads first and then the longtubes or install the longtubes , then install the heads..... once i get all of this done i am going to put it on the dyno see were i am at ....also i am putting a new idle air control valve since my rpm keeps sticking and not dropping down when the clutch is down....

Dropping the k-member is the easiest way.

Put the top end back together like it was, then once that is all done, then ..... in short.... drop the k member to do the header install.

is it alot of work to drop the k-member? But ya i will definitely install the heads first...

If your mechanically inclined, it's pretty easy to, just time consumming, and a pain without a lift.

would you be able to install my heads , and how much would you charge..... i have all the gaskets so......1low03gt?

When were you thinking of installing them?
Right now i'm working a bunch of o.t started this week since we are down a guy at work, and we have a heavy work load.
It's not an issue to help, just depends on timing.

well i was thinking the end of july.... i will buy the gaskets and the valve covers are already on the heads since they are complete , pi intake is already on my car but the factory heads are still on the car.lol I will pay you 500 dollars cash , and i will help you while you do it , if you want....
