Drive after Cam Install before Dyno!?

Hey Guys, my Order should be here early next week!

1- 2v Camshaft Degree Service
2 - CMS 2V OEM Reground Intake Valves - Increases Cam Clearance
1 - CMS 2V Spring Kit - .600" lift
1 - CMS 2v Stage 2 N/A Cams
1 - Trick Flow 2V Timing Kit - Adjustable Crank Gears
2 - Trick Flow Lash Adjusters 4.6 and 5.4 2v/4v - Set of 16
1 - Trick Flow Valve Spring Compressor - Modular 2V

:tup

Question is, after I install it can I drive it to the dyno shop if I keep the revs low? Or will it mess things up untuned until I can get it to the dyno hopefully within the same week of install? :banghead:

I wouldn't feel safe driving it

def67 05-05-2014 11:43 PM

I wouldn't either, can you get a download tune from who you bought the stuff from? That or just tow it.

xGHOSTx 05-06-2014 12:04 AM

Well I bought it all off Cushman Motorsports. I do have an SCT tuner. Maybe I can ask them if they can do anything for a stage II camshaft temporarily till I can Dyno it. I just need to get it to the dyno, but the dyno is like 45kms away :/ Im assuming its safe to start up though?

I drove mine for a week before having it tuned after having the VT/Cushman stage II cams installed without any issues. It ran rich cause the computer was wanting to give the engine more fuel due to the cams..... But my GT already had a SCT chip that was tuned for timing, and fuel, ects on the stock set up that had a custom fab'd cai, and exhaust, so that might've helped me out a bit.
Some guys couldn't even keep their GT's running after having those cams put in.
You will not know until "D" day. If it does run, just be easy on it.

Yea, I figured if it manages to run, and I drive it under 2k whole time with my hazards to dyno I should be okay lol. But I'll take it one step at a time, figured Id get some input from you guys! 1LOW03GT are you running stock fuel injectors and MAF still?

1low03gt 05-08-2014 07:35 PM

Yes i am. No need to up grade those yet. Stock maf is 80mm, and stock injectors are 21lbs (pink top)

xGHOSTx 05-08-2014 10:22 PM

Stock MAF is 80mm!? Awesome lol, don't have to upgrade and I can run 75mm TB and plenum :tup Wont 21lbers be border line for what im doing? I actually got Jim to switch mine to stage 2.5 with the trick flow heads for more poowwwaa :)

Nice!!:tup

Hard to say. All i know is that with mine it showed no issues of leanning out with fuel while being dialed on the dyno.

But since heads are your future, it wouldn't hurt to upgrade your injectors.

xGHOSTx 05-10-2014 03:08 AM

That's good! And yes the 44cc heads are on order too :) I'll probably buy some 30lbrs so I have a safe point if I decide to toss some boost on the engine later :tup
