Heating problem

Not sure if any of you have come across this, on my 97 gt i'm not getting any heat inside, i checked my dampers and they turn all the way, I think it might be a air lock, because the odd time it does come out warm and then cold air, How do i make sure there is no air in the system? Or could does anyone haveany suggestions?

you could bleed the radiator by opening the rad cap when the system is cold and run it until operating temperature with the heat on full and wait to see if any bubbles come out.

Cool i've tried that but i didn't have the heat on, would having the heat on make a difference?

Yes sometimes if you dont have the heat on the heater core wont open im pretty sure, and theres where your air lock could be sitting.

Sounds like a t-stat problem to me, if there's air in the system you should have a fluctuating temp guage. Bring the car to operating temp and feel both rubber hoses going into the h/core, they should both be hot-so hot you can't hold them for long, if they're not it's likely a t-stat, if 1 is hot and the other cold, the core is probably plugged.

Both hoses are hot, i'm gonna have to take it in somewhere, does anyone a good mechanic shop or someone thats good with this model year that does side work? I have to get this heat going, another thing is i have no pressure in the system, the car could be driving for a while and i'lkl stop, pull my resorvouir cap off and no pressure, is this normal?

If both hoses are hot (very hot and same temp) it's a problem with the inside heat blend door, either the cable is bad or the door is stuck. When you check for pressure is the car running or off? Are you checking the reservoir or the rad? the reservoir will not have any pressure-it's only a reserve tank.

The car is on when i check, i wasn't sure if the res held pressure or not, i took everything apart up to the cables, they seem to be operating fine, i heard the door moving back and forth, i'm at a loss really, don't know what else to look for

Anyonw know the steps or procedure to getting into the blend box? I think the problem is in there as everything else seems to check out?

Sure, just pull out the dash assembly and it's right there, lol.............I'd have a trusted shop look at it, it's starting to get cold.
