I have had very good luck with castrol syntec. But I am thinking of switching to Mobil 1. Some full synthetic Lucas in with your synthetic oil IMO is top notch.

Folks,

What about a 33 year old MOPAR that you don't know the history of....what should you use ?? I will be doing all the maintenance rather than the dealer for the stang.

Appreciate the help as always !

Synthetics are not going to harm that car however bear in mind that your Dino Oil will have built up sludge around the seals that synthetic will remove due to the detergents in the oil thus causing you to replace seals at an alarming rate.

In the past I have run Mobil 1 Amsoil and RP. In the new car I have factory syn which will be changed out next spring with 1000 kms on the odo. Lately it seems to get changed every 600-700 kms.

I have been using castrol GTX since buying it last year, and have changed it 3 times, and lately my car has not been liking it, so I see mobil 1 is on sale this week at canadian tire, so I think I will try that instead of the castrol syntec...I have also switched back to Motorcraft oil filters

I use Quaker State High RPM Synthetic Blend and a Ford Oil Filter. I normally change the oil every 2500 kms. The Mustang gets an oil and filter change roughly 4 times a year and the fuel filter is changed after winter storage.

Castrol Syntec is on sale now at Cdn Tire. It is a full synthetic which the GTX is not. May want to give that a shot. Last part of the year I was running Mobile 1 and noticed a bit of sludge in the pan. Could have been from the engine sitting and being pulled out but there was some in there.
