no check engine light?

Hey guys, Due to a crappy battery connection my car died. Anyways, got it all fixed up today. Before it died, my check engine light was ALWAYS on because I have O/R H-pipe and my O2 sensors aren't plugged in. Now that that I've fixed the car, the check engine light has been off when it should (obviously) still be on...

Did the computer somehow make up for this? er...?

Could be, it is possible that the ECU was re-set. Don't get overly excited though - eventually the ECU may detect the O2 sensors and activate the always annoying check engine light.

Agreed! It might come back on in due time.

Ahh you guys were right! A little bit of loving and crappy Sask roads brought it back. Funny to think that the light off gives me more worries than when its on..

I was thinking about this the other day. You should keep your eye out for a Ford ECU Code Reader - sometimes you can find them really cheap. Canadian Tire once had a sale selling them for around $29.99. If I were you (so I wouldn't worry) I would hook it up to the car ever three months or so - make sure its just the O2 sensors and then clear the codes - depending on the model you get you may even be able to omit the O2 sensor error code and the engine light will dissappear - until of course something other than the O2 sensor triggers it. It'll at least give you a little more peace of mind. Just my 2 cents.

Thats def a good idea, When I first got the car, the light was on and I took it straight to ford, they told me that it was just my O2's. They said that they couldn't turn the light off, even after I asked them too?
