Cleaned Throttle body

My car had some low rpm hesitation and rough idle. I thought I needed new spark plugs. I started from the front, cleaning MAF sensor then cleaned the Throttle Body. MAF sensor made no difference but after cleaning the TB I thought I was in a different car! They were pretty dirty with build up at the bottom of the butterfly. Spark plugs (and oil separator) can wait to end of summer.

Good to hear that it worked for you, what did you use to clean it?

Yup!! It doesn't hurt to clean some of those parts that most don't think of.

I used Throttle Body cleaner from CNC. I was surprised how well it dissolved the sludge. I did lightly rub away some of the grime with a shop towel. I removed the throttle body from the intake to clean it. It takes 15 minutes to remove and reassemble and not much longer to do the cleaning.

I do it once a year on my vehicles depending on mileage/usage. Makes a huge difference.

Had been trying to track down the source of a wobbly idle on a coyote that came from time to time. Cleaning the maf did make a good difference but there was still some wobble there.

I just took my intake apart and wiped up the throttle body with it wide open. Looks good now, there was a good amount of buildup in there.

Seems like on a cold start the rpms came down to idle more smoothly. Will have to give it up to a week to see if I still have any rough idle.

Thanks for the idea!

Side note: I was reaching into my intake tube to clean it out of any dust, and I found around the sound tube hole on the inside, there was a fair bit of leftover plastic from the cutting of the hole, and it was kind of loose. Some chunks broke off easily and it made me wonder if that ever entered the engine at some point, being past the filter.
