Engine hp/tq question

What part of the engine/build makes torque? Kind of vague but I am not a tech in the know:lol

The reason I ask is my 90GT had 225hp/300tq and my 05 had 300hp/320tq. Now the newest V8's have what 412hp/390tq. The old 5.0 went from 75 more tq than hp to now the 5.0 having 22hp more than tq. What is the better, more tq than hp or visa versa.:?

Torque comes from America, and high rev-ing HP comes from Japan...
If you want some torque, head to detroit Michigan... that stuff is all over the place up there!

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

But on a serious note. I found this explaination:

Cheers

It really boils down to how efficient the engine is. Newer technology makes more horsepower and torque.

I was always told torque gets you off the line and horsepower gets you across the finish line.
