Ford Racing CAI

I am thinking of installing a ford racing cold air kit and would like some input from anyone who has installed one as to ease of installing and tuning. We have a 2007 GT/CS we are going to install 4:10 gears also any info greatly appreciated.

Were you planning on getting it with the frpp tuner or just the intake itself? I had the intake(didnt use it) and the frpp tuner(unfortunently did use it) and I feel very confident in telling you to stay away from the frpp tuner. Pick a reputable tuning company (ie Brooks Speed - Custom Ford, GM, Dodge Tuning , Mustang Performance Parts & Upgrades by Brenspeed , Tillman Speed, Inc. > In-House Dynojet 224xLC, Custom Tuning, Insallation, Performance Parts! , BamaChips Tuning , etc)Once you know who you want to go with THEN get whatever tuner they use with the tune on it. IE sct excalibrator, or diablosport predator. You will get better power gains (most of the gains come from the tune not the cai itself), and if you tell them to leave it open ended you will be able to adjust all kinds of things all by yourself. Such as the air/fuel ratio, timing, rear tire size/gearing (corrects the speedo), rev limiter, etc.

As far as I know there is nothing wrong with the frpp cai itself. That being said one thing to keep in mind is if you buy a JLT or C&L cai (the two most popular) from one of those tuners with a tuner and tune as a package you can save some coin.

If I were you I would buy the Ford Racing CAI without the tuner it comes with because it is sold with or without the pro-cal.

It is a top notch quality piece and looks factory (actually it is on the bullit).

Then get a ex-cal 3 tuner or whatever and download a tune to cover the maf size and you are set.
Then you have a tuner still that is useful for so many others things (gears, tire size, other tunes, etc..).
