wanted SC

I have 2008 gt, 4.6L 3V ( not forged) Yet:)
I am looking for Super Charger.
If anyone knows where one can be had, let me know
Plan on DOing the engine in the future also.
SO prefer more and detune, than less.

Thanks

Don't we all want a SC! Haha, check kijiji and such. You can also look into take off GT500 chargers, DOB makes an intake for them.

Apocalypse Pony 11-11-2013 03:51 AM

Procharger, Edelbrock, Roush, Ford Racing Whipple, Kenne Bell or what ? New or used ? Price range or budget ? Pretty open question dude, there's lots of places to buy superchargers, check the websites on any of the ones I listed right off the top of my head without even trying. Welcome to the site and good luck with the search.

Ohtobbad 11-11-2013 03:11 PM

I will buy new if good set up can't be had used.
On the east coast of Canada, hard to find.

The DOB manifold, how much is it, does anyone know?

Open to most SC, preference if buying new would be Whipple or KB.

def67 11-11-2013 07:40 PM

I'd buy a kit from brenspeed or Amarican Muscle or Steeda if I was you, mich less hasle than DOB as with them you have to piece it together yourself. I'm just waiting till mines paid for then I'm gonna get a Roush TVS R2300 from either brenspeed or AM.

Ohtobbad 11-11-2013 09:57 PM

Well if going new, likely buy from ford racing.
550 hp Whipple for 6700, complete kit.

I agree the gt 450 ( DOB) is a bit of a pain.
but considering when all done, your into it
for around 3500, at least work consideration.
Hope someone here has some info on one,
or know someone who went that way and their thoughts
on it.

def67 11-12-2013 07:29 AM

I havnt seen anyone on here go DOB, just some guys on some yankee forums.

GT500Thunder 11-12-2013 04:54 PM

So it seems the manifold is the trick to this up grade. What is the match up between manifold and SC? If for example you bought a KB package and then latter down the road you wanted to change up to a whipple. Could you just bolt on a different SC? The base bolt pattern between the manifold and SC would have to match and also the drive pulley snout and belt alignment would have to match.
If you can't interchange them you basically are over a barrel when it comes to future upgrades.

Apocalypse Pony 11-13-2013 03:31 AM

Stupid question, but what's a DOB manifold ? I get the intake manifold part, but no idea what DOB means.

def67 11-13-2013 08:10 AM

It's a company that makes a manifold so a gt500 eaton charger will fit the 4.6

GT500Thunder 11-13-2013 12:01 PM

Department of Boost ( DOB).
Department of Boost - UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Looks like the manifold is machined from a block of alum.

def67 11-13-2013 12:37 PM

When are you upgrading your blower GT500Thunder, Am I first on your list?:wiggle::wiggle::wiggle:

Best I can tell, the manifold is machined for the SC off the shelbys, as there
is many around at cheap price. from Shelby guys doing upgrades, I presume.
It seems the DOB manifold is a good option, from those who have used it, but still new and hard to get much real info on. Based on pricing for the whole thing
about half the cost of a new one. But you also have to be fairly mechanical to do this option.

Be nice to know someone who has done it and get real feed back.
The website has been under construction, seems like forever.

DOB stands for department of Boost, and they have named it the
manifold, gt450, as it is suppose to produce 450 rwhp to a stock 4.6L 3V

Also my research shows me, this is one of the most expensive engines to put
an SC, much cheap for the older versions of these engines.

I bought a used saleen s/c VI something like this (Ford Mustang Forums) and installed it myself and couldn't be happier. It had everything except a BAP and HT0 plugs. The BAP I bought from Brenspeed so they updated my tune (free) to their Saleen stage 3 530 hp. HT0 plugs I bought in Great Falls Mt.
I checked out various sites about the seller and his history about the supercharger and apparently I did an ok investiagtion as everything turned out well. When I received it I took the snout off and as everything looked great I resealed it with high temp rvt (red) refilled with XL 4, installed it and viola - great. With this unit I reused my C & L Racer intake which was a saving). With a 3.4 pulley and Comp VSR 127300 cams (used by some Saleen Extremes) I already had, it sure pulls. I gave you a site as an example of what can be out there, but you have to be careful and check things out. I had it shipped to Montana Shipping,Sweetgrass, paid GST and took er home.

I ordered the DOB, manifold and have bought a shelby super charger, intercooler,
Cole air kit and Kenne Bell boosta pump. Need few other odds and ends.
I am in the process of removing the engine, as I want to paint it also.
so busy winter:)

Are you still stock bottom end? Brenspeed tunes are pretty solid I think.

Still stock. My car seems to have been strong right from new (knock on wood). Brenspeed assured me that their tune should be ok. I've been with their tunes since 2006 going through the intake SCT up grade, Delete plates, comp cams VSR 127300, upgrade to C & L Racer intake, and now the Saleen VI. I also run the GT500 TB which they said didn't require a tune upgrade. With my upgraded PA Auto transmission they felt my RWHP would be in the 455 range and that didn't include consideration of the Comp Cams VSR 127300s.

Very cool, thanks for the info, did you have any trouble getting the stuff through the border?

No at all. Paid GST and on the way home.

I'm sure the KB boost a pump will work fine if you strap a blower on the stock motor. But if your building the engine down the road you should go with GT500 dual fuel pump which was designed for 500hp+ cars as opposed to increasing the voltage on the stock gt pump. Or go with a returnless fuel system if you plan on making really big power. Sounds like a fun project.

07procharger 02-12-2015 11:04 AM

You mean go with a RETURN style for big power right?

And I have a FRPP GT500 twin pump kit for sale if you are interested. I personally don't believe in boost a pumps but know many people that run them without issue.

Sorry I did mean return style, though either could work. The return style is superior, I've heard the returnless one's have fuel delivery lag and timing issues. What fuel system are you feeding your procharger with?

07procharger 02-12-2015 11:37 AM

division X 1200hp return style system with ID 1000 injectors

sallyII 02-12-2015 12:32 PM

Nice setup, lots of room to grow with that system.

Ohtobbad 02-13-2015 12:07 AM

I have been using the Kenne Bell boosta pump, with no issues.
Car is @435 at the wheels. Which is about all you want without doing the bottom end.
