Good points brown bro's but what the JLT intake's do well is make power properly, from increased cold airflow.

I do love my steeda unit on my cobra though.

Unit's like the MAC and even the steeda have improper "clocking" of the maf, resulting in a skewed air meter function which leans out the A/F mixture enough to make more hp. Of course the bigger tubing ot filter helps, but the main gains are seen because of the 'clocked' maf.

The JLT unit's make ton's of power, with the maf in the proper position. This make everyone's life a lot easier...especially mine when doing mail order tunes. Improper clocking of a MAF is the main cause for a crappy mail order tune.

So from your last statement you are saying that a steeda CAI will lean out my car if install one? Why would someone want to install one of these if it messes up the A/F ratio. I thought and was told specificly that they do not do this?

They lean out the car enough to SAFELY make power. EVERY Cold Air kit in the world basically does this and it is how some companies claim more HP over others.

Clocking a MAF in the wrong position, on a N/A car will not cause any harm or damage. I was simply making a point about the JLT.

I ran the steeda kit on my car without a tune for months. No worries....

To avoid this, drill holes in the maf housing and clock it at the factory position. This is only really a problem on blower cars and when using mail order chips where a factory position is assumed.

Actually this is incorrect, well partially anyways. The Steeda Cai does not have a lean issue due to the "clocking" of the maff. SOME of the Mac CAI's do, as does the WMS pipe, and any other CAI which has a bend in front of the mass air flow sensor. The reason that when you clock the mass air on one of these systems makes a difference in air/fuel, or driveability, is the fact that it will measure air that has been accelerated or slowed by the bend of the CAI tube. This causes the mass air flow sensor to "lie" to the PCM about the amount of air coming into the engine. The "Straight Shot" types of systems do not bend the airflow, therfore "clocking" is not an issue with these intakes.

In the most simple words...

Even a slight re-clocking of ANY METER...factory, pro-m, SCT,etc even 5 degrees will result in a different a/f reading due to the sampling area on the maf being in a different position therefore not allowing the stock air meter transfer function to be 100% accurate

how is it sampling a different area if the location of the sensor has not changed and there are no changes in direction of airflow in the inlet?? :confused:

When you rotate a MAF, the sample tube is not in the stock position.

Go to a vehicle, it can even be stock...rotate the maf and see what it does to the air meter function. Why do you think meter's come so they can only be installed ONE WAY
