5.0 Stroker - Tune Needed?

If I end up going with a 5.0 stroker, am I going to need a tune or should the stock one work? I know it's always best to have a tune but I just want to know if I can get by without one.

Thanks

Be more specific as to your combo: if you going with a 331 or 347 stroker with heads, cam and a intake, you'll need 24# or 30# injectors and a tune would be your best bet, you can always roll the dice with the calibrated Maf path. Which im against, go with a 80mm ford maf from a newer mustang and get a tune done. The car will drive better than stock and we be a monster when you lay into the throttle.

5.0L DOHC from 4.6L (hence the location of the post )

Other than that, it'll all be stock 97 Cobra stuff, I can't remember which injectors were stock though.

Sorry dude never noticed just seen 5.0 and automaticaly though pushrod engine. But you'll need a tune man serious, if you want the most out of your combo. Talk to Meister at steeda.ca he knows his Mod Motors.

You should be alright, but it wouldn't hurt to have the a/f checked.

Well that's the problem, to get it anywhere to have it tuned I'll need to drive it. I'm still unsure where I want to go with it exactly... if I lease another car I can keep it as a fast weekend car instead of a conservative daily driver.

If you get yourself a wideband O2 sensor to monitor your A/F you'll be fine. Going from 4.6 to 5.0 isn't that radical of a change, especially if you keep the stock cams. Down the road you can get her fine tuned for a few extra ponies but until then you'll be fine.

There's all sorts of ideas bouncing around in my head which all depend on if I get a raise or a new job (that pays more, of course). I'm working out my options...

A lot will depend on what compression ratio you opt to run. If you keep the compression ratio around where the stock configuration is, then you'll be fine. If you up the compression by over a full point, then you're surely going to want to get the a/f adjusted accordingly.

What are the mods you currently have? Why the stroker? Just curious.
