Connecting Rods
Does anyone know if the 04 4.6 GT is the same as a Cobra 4.6? I understand that Ford started using forced connecting rods in all the 4.6's and not just the Cobra 4.6 around 200-2001? Can anyone tell me? Also if the pistons forged or cast? Thanks

From my understanding, the rod's are different in the Cobra's and GT's and the 03/04 cobra that uses Manley pieces. The rods in the 4V motors are a bit stronger, but other than that I dont know exact details. If I am wrong, someone please correct me
Until the 2003 cobra, the late model stangs were using Cast Hypereutectic Pistons - The 03/04 Cobra's got Forged Pistons |

The 4.6 DOHC is fitted with the same powdered-metal connecting rods we find in the SOHC. The exception is the connecting rods and pistons are forged on a 03/04 Cobra. heres a good site for info CLICK |
