Friction Modifier

How much friction modifier do I need to add after installing a gear set in my 2000 GT ?

It usally comes in a small bottle, so just put the whole bottle in then add diff lube.

So one of those 4oz bottles right ?

I was thinking about going with Royal Purple Max Gear what do you guys think about that stuff ?

I beleve if you go with that kind of diff lube you dont need friction modifier.

mattstang 05-11-2006 05:47 PM

Yeah I read that on their website but what do you think of that stuff? What lube are you running in your diff ?

White_Snake 05-11-2006 06:13 PM

when i change my gears her in a week or so, i was thinking about going "purple".

I have Royal Purple in everything in my car. I refuse to put anything else.

I would suggest using Motorcraft Friction Modifier, as Ford has requested this in there limited-slip rearend. The reason for it is to make the clutches work properly, without this you may have your rearend remain locked while turning short corners obviosly cause a chattering from the back of the car. Im sure that using the friction modifier with the Royal purple is fine and would just save your a$$ if the royal purple isn't a replacement of the friction modifier....just my 2 cents

Yeah that's what I decided to do Ford synthetis gear oil with Ford friction modifier. Gears are going in later today. :chacha:
