Mufflers '05 GT?

I am looking to remove my mufflers in favor of a straight pipe system. Has anyone done this yet? I have yet to make my decision and could use some input on this for or against.

May not pass emissions with no mufflers.
And you might get boned by the Cops.!

Would the SLP loudmouth satisfy both issues. Or should I wait out warranty and do proper system with headers.

A straight pipe would be f---in loud and sexy. As long as you kept the catylitic converters you'd be fine for emissions, but as for cops... you could get busted if it's REALLY loud.

I am taking my time with this decision. I can get it done cheaper than just the cost of the SLP parts alone. I will be able to re-install factory setup with ease if need be. I like the idea of the sound and power increase, butu how loud is too loud?

Mufflers have no effect on your emissions. They muffle the noise, that's all.

I don't think it will sound very good without mufflers, I'd do a highflow cat-back or just weld in some muffs.

The mufflers, even though very far back, still provide back pressure. I would advise against removing them all together. Many manufacturers offer great mufflers to really wake up the sound of the vehicle.

There are 6 cat's on the 2005 Mustang. Remove them or go to a high flow cat setup and you will notice a big difference in sound. There are many options to achieve your goal without giving up performance

Pull the shield off and open everything up....the inside is comprised of 3 smaller cats (bricks) per side housed in one unit.

Why do you think they put the 02 sensor IN the cat? It is not actually in the cat, it is between bricks

Cool, now I don't need to cut one up to see :tup
