short and long headers???

whats the differnce of shorty headres and long tubes :2: .. power gains? sound?

G-ForceJunkie 06-12-2006 11:34 PM

Long tubes will make more power, and they certainly sound different, not sure how to describe it though.

As long as they use the same flange types you can mix them. I doubt they would change them since it would limit their application.

You should be able to mix brands, but midpipes are different for shorty's and longtubes.

I have read mixed reactions, for N/A I heard short but there would not be much gain from stock for the work involved in replacing them.

Long tubes are good for forced induction, turbo, supercharger. Longs will definately give you a different sound. It is very debateable but from what many say long tubes on N/A motors you will loose HP on the bottom end because they are free flowing where as forced induction there will be more exhaust to get rid of. There is also alot moe work involve to put long tubes on a 2v or 4v motor.

dont know about how they are, but they will not fit with your stock exhaust setup...as afr as i know, you need shorties.
i did i mis-read, and you have another X/H pipe?

Shorty's will be your best bet, unless you plan on making serious power, are these for a '98? if so, either way you'll be gaining like 8-12hp if that so it's not really worth the extra cost and major PITA installation of long tubes for like 2hp over shorty's.

long tubes i belive make power more so at high end, and shorties and low end, but as far as ive been told unlesss your already making potent power headers are kinda pointless unless your shooting for sound.
