2013 5.0 Exhaust smell
Good day to all.
I have a 2013 5.0 GT with the Race pack and I have noticed that when I start the car it has a very unique smell to the exhaust. The closest thing that I can think of for the smell is the smell you get when you run without CATs. The car is stock and I use Shell Gold for my fuel. I guess that my real question is whether others have noticed this with the newer 5.0s, or do I have something unique happing here. Yes, I am not the only one that can smell it. |

I've never noticed with mine. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Shell gas is known for having to much sulfur. The sulfur may be the cause of the smell. In Alberta I used only Esso and in B.C. I use only Chevron. Switch and see if you get the same smell.:chacha:
I have made a long run with the car to run the fuel to under 1//4 of a tank, and filled up with Esso. I will see how it goes. |
Could be the mufflers breaking in. I know you aren't stock but the stock mufflers when mine was new stunk and smelt hot after going for a drive first the first 5000km or so.

^^X2, mine as well.

there is no smell from my 2013 5.0 running Shell Exclusively, but regular smells from my rear end to the dismay of anyone around me.

I have swapped over to Esso. And the smell is not there now.
So what I was smelling may have been the fuel. Thanks for the ideas. |

Fuel quality is variable. In Sask. I think that most of the fuel no matter the brand is from the Coop refinery, exception may be Husky.
