5.0L Build!

Hey guys! Recently I just found out I will be getting a profit sharing cheque of around 3-5,000$ (or more) In November so I thought it would be a perfect time to do my build! Im gonna Keep the Car N/A and im going to buy a NOS setup for the track. My plan was to start complete block, and I think I'm going to go with the Ford Racing 5.0 Block, same deck height as 4.6L. It's Cool cause it can reuse everything from my current engine.

However, Im thinking on top of that I'd do a head swap to the Trick Flow 38CC heads for some nice flow, and I figured I might as well do the top end kit from trick flow, but swap the mediocre trick flow cams for some CMS Stage II cams and exchange there 90LB springs for 120LB.

I will then look into a 5.0 forged crank, forged H beams, and forged pistons! Then with all my bolt ons simply slapped back on, I should be making some decent power with the new heads and displacement! Before I even get around to the NOS. What do you think!? Will it even work lol :bleh:

To maximize the power of your combination you will want a compression ratio of 10:1 or higher (nitrous engines love compression), 11.0:1 or higher would be ideal. You may want to consider buying the 195 TFS head (specifically for big bore modulars), go with the larger combustion chamber, and order a piston that will give you the compression you need to make power. Also, you will want to use high quality head gaskets and ARP fasteners, the large bore and close bore spacing doesn't leave much between the cylinders. Some Boss block users have run into head gasket failures as cylinder pressures increase.

Good luck!
