'85 4bbl carb replacement

Any experience going to a double pumper (mechanical) 4 barrel carb from the stock unit (vacuum operated secondaries)? Is it worth while to upgrade from the stock 600 cfm to a 650 without doing any other mods to the engine (stock)?

street car or track car? a dp will KILL your milage.a good dual feed vacuum sec 650 or 680 will work good.is there any other mods on the engine or is it bone stock?stick or auto?rear gear ratio?stall of converter if not stock?

It's a street car, bone stock engine, 5 spd man.

A "puddle dumper" carb won't be of much (if any) benefit for performance in that application. If you had heads/cam/intake and more rear gear you could take advantage of it.

is your present carb causing issues or broken?why the change if you have no other mods to support?
