Always somthing.....WTF now?

SO........I have 7 gauges to put in my car. I almost have all in except for 3 of them.

I just got the cluster bezzel today and I thought I can put 2 more in.....
One of them being Water Temp gauge.

I hooked them up tonight and put it all back together looks very nice, other then a new little problem!
I fired the car up and let it sit and idle for a bit...once at full operating temperature my gauge is reading 250*F WTF? my stock gauge read at the letter N in the word Normal.
Most people know I have a TwEECer RT installled and I set the fan to kick on at 190*F low speed and shut off at 180*F low speed, I also have the high speed to kick on at 205*F and shut off at 190*F.....

What im saying is my fan kicks on low speed at 190*F and the high speed didn't kick on at all! So I know the car has not even reached 205*F but the gauge is reading 250*F????

Could this be my ECT sensor????

I unhooked the stock gauge aswell.

Is this electric or mech. gauge?

If it is electric are you using the supplied sending unit or the factory one? They may be calibrated differently.

I also once got the oil and water temp wires backwards and I had zero oil pressure and instant temp from a cold engine...I was like WTF?

you dont have the wire laying acrose the exhaust do ya ? lol

Ok.....
So this morning I got up and started the car first fire of the day, the Temp gauge went right from 0 to 170*F Ice cold.

All I did was unhooked the factory temp gauge and used that wire to hook up my new Autometer "electric" Temp gauge.
So yes im using the factroy sender harness and everything.

What should I do?

Did your gauge come with a few brass pieces?

One of the pieces is the sending unit. The other is an adapter, it has a hole through the middle. The sending unit had a small threaded portion w/ a nut, that is where the wire goes.

You need to remove the factory one and install the autometer one. Then it should be good to go. I use some thread sealant when I did mine. I had to use one of the adapters as well. You may want to drain some of the coolant too since it's lower spot than the coolant level.

You cannot use the oem temp sending unit with the autometer guage.
