If you would have tryed the timming fix first you would have likely not been happy. I think that the major inprovement will have come from cleaning the MAF sensor.
Check any 94-95 based forum and this crops up more then it should.

timed it by ear and took it for a quick drive....OH MAN.....turned onto a road...smashed it....went sideways.....took 2nd gear and holy crap...i actually scared myself...car cam around and then back and then back the otherway...
Dude you must have jerked the steering wheel too cause I own one and they aren't that buck wild! While your at it get a light on it and set the timing. One thing I have found is during powershifting they don't seem to have time to pull any timing out. Part throttle driving or granny shifting, well thats another thing.

nope... made a left turn...hit it....slamed second while sidways and it kicked around the other way....i know my car and i know i didn't just jerk the wheel!
The MAF is basically new.....4500km on it i just cleaned it cause we had it apart!

i've done this before we fixed it, and it would just bog a bit then go...never kick out like it did!!!

That explains it.

I've owned alot of stangs and know that the 1994-95's (in a straight line) kick nothing out stock! Again make sure you check the timing with a light.
