Can anyone tell me the major differences between
 

My buddy just put his 94 GT for sale and of course I have first dibs.

I did post in general discussion to see how much it is worth. We agreed on $6,300 as the price................so that's done.

I already have a 1985 GT.

Can anyone tell me the major differences between both. The 94 GT is fully loaded and in good shape. I am considering selling my 85 to buy this 94 cause I will be starting University courses part time and I won't have time to work on my old Pony....................

So differences anyone??? Are the 94s easy to mod?? Can you get good power out of them for cheap?

I'm pretty sure they're the same as the pre-94 HOs except they have an elbow on the intake so it fits in the new body style.

They aren't the same, the deck height on the block is different, but parts and motors are still interchangeable, the elbow is different, and the motor doesn't have Forged pistons like the 87-92's did.

They also don't use the A9L computer, and aren't as forgiving as the 89-93 cars in terms of cam selection, they are a lot heavier than your 85, and are rated for less HP than a 87-93.

However, the potential is there, if I was going to go to an SN95 style, I would first of all ditch that crappy computer and mass air unit, go to an 89-93 style Computer, swap in an 87-92 motor with forged pistons, (just my thing, you don't need to really) and a nice lumpy cam with either ported heads, or perhaps aluminum heads. Oh yeah, and a 200 shot plate kit.

But thats just me :)

Well, I think of the 94-95s as the black sheep. Great cars, but lots of specific parts. Overall, its a much better car. It feels more solid, handles better, has a wider track, and looks more up to date. I love the look of the '85-86s, they look very brute but the SN95's are alot more rounded and classy looking. They can be made to look pretty mean though. The 94 is a great base, it feels alot more solid in everyday driving and is more comfortable. You can do everything to a 94 that you could to an 85, but there are some drawbacks and some benefits. Most of all, handling and brakes are WAY better. Biggest drawback is the hypereutectic pistons but they can still handle a fair bit of abuse. I think you should go for it. I'm ditching my '85 and putting all the drivetrain into a 95 because I want to get something newer and better. I want my car to handle around corners and be more comfortable.

It's tough..........I appreciate your opinions though.

The problems I have with my 85 are the following.........

Engine leaks oil..........quite a bit............I think the pan and the front/rear seal are on their way out.
Floor needs fixing
Interior needs restoring which I was actually doing..........
need exterior mouldings and decals..........
Suspension upgrade would be nice.

Anyhow I am thinking just to avoid all that to sell mine and get the 94.

I don't have the tools to do the engine bit.................nor the floor..................so in the end it costs $$$$

I wonder how much my 85 is worth as it stands.........

Some other differences under the hood are fuel rails are larger on the sn95, waterpump is reverse rotation, timing cover is shorter, distributor does'nt have tfi built in in, accessory brackets are different, air condioner and alternator are different, electric fan, radiator, bellhousing is shorter, erg valve is different, mass air flow meter is different.

Come to think of it, almost everything accept for the block, injectors and smog pump are unique to the 94-95's

I just got my 95gt in april but looked at all available mustangs in montreal area and took the 95 for 302 and updated styling ,nicer interior,better body rigidity(you haven't seen cowl shake until you've hit one of our potholes) handling and 4 wheel discs. You say this guy is your bud so I guess you know the car but when I was looking found lots of stangs with rear window bottom seal problems which lead to rust in the trunk under the carpets
