Help...it won't start
 

Took the car to my buddy's shop and had to fix the leaks from the oil pan and the rear main seal, I guess the weather softened the gaskets...friggin expense and a lot of work. Especially when u have the motor still in the car!

Got it back and the rad started leaking bad the next day, darn thing was rotted and I guess from moving the motor around, it opened it up. So I got my buddy to put in a new one. Thought it was over and done with.

Took the car home, and then guess what happened!!! The stupid thing wouldn't start, the same night!! I couldn't hear the gas pump when i turned the ignition. Tried it a few hours later and the pump engaged and my sister was able to drive it for the day. Tried again tonight and the same thing happened...she won't start for good now.

The car cranks but, I think the problem is the fuel pump. Before I decide to drop the tank and change the pump (stock pump), should i be looking at some other things...possibly electrical? This is starting to cost some money, we just got this car. I knew about the oil leak, but, the rad leak and this starting issue nailed me right in the butt at the same time! And we just did the front brakes, fuel filter and got four new z rated tires two months ago.

The car looks sweet, but, this is starting to piss me off...it just has over 100,000 kms, it's been sitting in a garage and it's not even broken in yet!

check to make sure you have a good connetion to your battery.

if your not hearing the pump prime as you turn on the ignition.. and the pump is original.. You will have to drop the tank to look at the connection. I would repace the pump anyways.. and fuel filter while you there.. it's not that hard of a job.

it might not be the pump....i had a similar problem with my stang a while back and couldn't figure it out. sometimes the pump would come on, sometimes not, sometimes while driving down the road the pump would cut out intermitantly. good thing my dads a mechanic and was wable to track it down to the inertia switch. i guess a previous owner had an alarm or something in the car, and when the removed it left some exposed wiring t the switch and it would occasionally short out causing the pump to tun off. pretty simple really, and probably not your problem, but easy to check none the less...

Check the fuel pump relay could be going.
Also if the pump is not comming you could check the fuel cut-off switch located in the trunk on the drivers side. It is a white button, sometimes they will release cutting power to the pump. Also known as a enertia switch.

check all of your ground beside the engine especaly the ECC groud how going strait to the neg pole maybe a bit coroded

I really appreciate your input. I checked it this morning and it started on a dime. I guess I need to check things when it acts up again. The grounds look ok to me.

It'll probably do it again tonight, it's happened twice at night so far. :banghead:
