Mustangs imported into Japan.
Hi all,
I just bought a 1995 GT today (2006-03-05)here in Japan. Now with the Japan MOT, they require that the cars timing be set very low. How low, well when I checked it today it was @ 8 BTDC. Ill be cranking this up to 12-14 shortly, but in the mean time, Im curious to know if these imported N/A cars have been fitted with a special ECU to cause restrictions. Anyone have info on this? Thanks in advance, Adam |
Was the car completely stock when it arrived?
I dont believe the ECU causes restrictions but I could be wrong on that. |

As far as i know the 94-95 5.0L have a different computer.... there is also a califonia emissions on the older ones... but i think the newer ones its something programmed like the same way you would flash it to change settings. If the car was built/sold for Califonia market it would have the stiffer standards. If it was sold elseware it would have the 49 states or whatever they call it.
