no start?
 

OK, so i finally got my mustang all back together and wired. Now when I tried to start it.....nothing, not a single thing happened, granted my battery is low the lights and such all went on. Just does not crank. I did not connect any vaccum hoses (could this cause a no start) but I think it may be the starter?

i would make sure your battery is fully charged.

Then i would check the connections on everything.


Vacuum should have nothing to do with it if it is not turning over.

I had a similar problem with my 5.0 when I first got it, turned out to be loose connection on solinoid

Check the connections to the battery and make sure it's fully charged, if you know you have a weak battery-that's a good place to start. What do you mean "I just got it back together"?, what did you do to it? Also check the connections to the solenoid.
This may be obvious (to a t-bird owner), but are you pushing the brake pedal while cranking? you must hold the brake on a t-bird or it will not crank.

ok the car cranks now, it ended up being a bad starter solonoid. Well I broke it. Now the car doesn't want to start. However fire shoots out of the throttle, timing issue?

Could be timing, but maybe wrong firing order. Do you know how Ford numbers their cylinders?

if you can post the firing order that would be awsome.

Early 289's, 302's and some late model 302's run the 15426378 firing order.
Late model 302 HO's and 351W run the 13726548 firing order.

ok so I set the motor to TDC and reinstalled the distributor, and plut the plugs in accordingly. However the motor still refuses to start up. It will crank and crank and crank, and when i finally turn the key off, it makes a noise similar to a blow off valve?

Could the distributor be in 180deg out? Not sure of the firing order, but the cylinders on a Ford are numbered like this: starting at the cylinder closest to the front (#1), 123 on one side, 456 on the other, they don't alternate sides like other manufacturers, so make sure you have the correct firing order, rotor pointing at #1 at TDC and it should start. Did you have the timing chain off? What did you do to the car?
