PCV valve from a 4.6L Cobra fixed rear main seal leak!
Will a PCV from a 03-04 Cobra fit into the back of the Intake on a 5.0L, like a direct swap?
I would have tried this but you just cant walk to CTC and buy one for a 03-04 Cobra go figure :bleh: |
Supra PCV, made from steel, built for boost..........and can handle lots of it.

Well I haven't updated this...so since its at the top I guess Ill answer my own question!
I have a Super Charged 5.0L and my stock motorcraft PCV cant handle the boost! I have been getting blow by and now my rear main is leaking... This is how I fixed the problem... Since the 2003 and 2004 SVT Cobras were factory Super Charged with a 4.6L and a PCV in the valve cover I wanted to see if there PCV's would work in my 5.0L.....This is what I came up with... I went to my local Ford dealership and ordered a brand new PCV from a 04 Cobra since they were only like $8.00 each. When it came in I took it home to see what I can rig up...looking at it I noticed it is a turn in/lock in style, and was MUCH bigger then mine. My OEM PCV was like 3/8" while the cobra PCV was like 5/8". Then I blew into it to see if it leaked, and it DID! What I found was it wasn't leaking where the ball sits....It was leaking around the seam near the ball. I then figured it must sit and lock onto a O-ring to seal that seam in the cobra. So I went and got some RTV sealant/silicon and sealed the seam up and let sit for 48 hrs. I then blew into it again, and the PCV was then air tight no leaks. Prior to sealing the seam I tried to install it into my rubber grommet were the OEM sits, and it fit like a glove. I then had to get an adapter for my intake since my OEM was only 3/8" I went to my local fastenall and picked up what I needed. Since I have a Edelbrock Performer RPM II Intake the inlet for my PCV is at the back. I picked up a brass 90* Male on the one end and a female on the other end, and then I picked up a straight piece of pipe 2" Long threaded on both ends and 5/8" OD. Then the hard part was trying to find a piece of 5/8" hose that was straight with a 90* bend....I went to my local junk yard to see what was availible! First vehicle I walked up to was a 80's Ford F150.....there was the perfect PCV hose running from the vent tube on the oil spout on the valve cover to the Air Intake. I pulled it off, cost me $5.00 and a spray of brake clean to clean it up and WALA! New problem solved! |
