shift kit

Hi people. I'm getting some 3:73's installed on my AOD(89). I was going to go with a transgo shift kit. I gor a price of 540.00 installe. Is it worth it ? Sould I wait to see how it feels with the new gears before I make a decision ?

I would look for a bauman shift kit. Never heard a bad thing about them. Do a search on Corral or stangnet. everyone who has one loves it! i bought one but never installed it as i sold the tranny & kit together.

What would a fair price be to get one installed ?

Honestly im not sure. i was just gonna do it myself. the instructions were real good with the baumann.

I was thinking of giving it a try, I thought 300 buck for an intall seemed kind of steep.

Yeah just take your time. the kit comes with everything ya need, drill bit and gaskets. read the instructions a few times over. If you dont feel comfortable then have it done, but really it didnt look too bad. just take your time. Get a bud to help ya, so ya dont miss something. 4 eyes are better then 2! :tup

one more question.
With a stock engine except the gears, Will this shift kit chirp the tires under normal driving conditions. I really don't want that, especially when I'm going on a Sunday drive with the wife and kids.

it will shift firm, but shouldnt chirp unless you really give it some throttle.

Thanx. That is what I wanted to hear.
