What grade oil to use?
Here in southern Manitoba the temp reaches 30+ in the summer quite often, do you think the 5w30 recommend by ford is good enough or should i switch to a different grade? What brands and/or grades do you other members use?
|
I think it is good enough, they changed the new ones to 5w20 to conserve fuel. Anyway, most of the cars are sold in the states. If you look at the temp overall in the states it is higher than what Manitoba or anywhere in Canada gets to.
If you drive it normally and race it the odd weekend that grade of oil will be fine for use. Just make sure you cahnge it regularly. That is a must.:) Peace. |

5W30 is fine It gets to be above 30 here... And with the smog... sometimes high 30's and I've never had a problem with oil consumption. |
During the summer season I run 20W50 and when it cools down I step down to 10W30. 5W30 is too thin for the hot summer heat if you ask me.

isnt 10w40 what ford recomends?

i use 10w30 all year round. the cheapest stuff i can find actually and change it every 3000km. i'm over 300,000km on my car now and i live in the most southern part of canada...doing this has worked well for me.

geography
Not to be a smart a** but Leamington is not classified as a city, but according to the Canadian government it is a town. All the same it is a great place to visit. :tup

geography
More useless knowledge from the smarta** The most southerly point in Canada is Middle Island which is at 41 degrees 41 minutes north, Pelee Island is 41 degrees 45 minutes north. Besides car cleaning, anything army, geography is a big interest of mine  Forgot to put this answer in last response.
