Where to buy Cylinder Heads & Gears online?
 

Hey all,

I'm looking for performance heads and 3.73:1 gears to replace the stock ones on my '86 GT.

Does anyone know a good place to buy them online? My eyes are beginning to glaze over from surfing too many sites, most of whom want the same outrageous, top-dollar sum i can waltz down to my local Lordco shop (or steeda, or summit) and pay. There's gotta be someone out there who sells at a good price, and ships to canada without charging the moon. Can anyone tell me if they've found such a place in their searching.

I'm not too picky about the brand; lots of good ones out there. Re: heads, i'm looking for aluminum, approx 190-200 cc intake runners, 60cc chamber. Edelbrock, RHS, Ford Racing, etc will do. REBUILT will do, if it's from a reputable place. Re the gears, i'm looking for Ford Racing or Motive gears, but there may be others i haven't heard of - those just seem to be the ones people say are of good quality.

Any help anyone can give would sure be appreciated. Otherwise, I guess it's back to Lordco this week-end to pay top dollar again. wall: SIGH.

thanks white snake, but i have checked the sponsors, including themustangshop.com i compared prices on 3 things i've bought recently, and they're more expensive on all 3 of them than the price i got just driving down the road to my local Lordco autoparts store. and on top of that, i'd have to pay their shipping. i don't see what's so great about themustangshop; i know everyone on that forum raves about them, and especially about Matt, but i got better deals just walking into an autoparts store near me. i see all kinds of good prices in the US, but shipping to CDA is usually pretty outrageous.

I know when i was looking at buying internals for my engine they were the cheapest buy far. except when i called modular mustang racing out of the states directly, they had the best price, but shipping and brokerage would have shot the price up over The Mustangs Shops prices.

not sure what you mean "the names of those places". like i said, i compared the prices at themustangshop to what i paid at my local Lordco parts store. that's the place: LORDCO (it's a chain of auto parts stores in British Columbia; there are locations all over the province). My BBK shorty headers, just by way of example, were $188; my 3:73 gears were $208. those are just some examples of their pricing - like i said everything i've bought there has been cheaper (WAY cheaper) than themustangshop. don't know what all the fuss is about re: them being so great. anyways, guess i'll stick with Lordco; there doesn't seem to be anything cheaper out there, judging by the responses i've gotten.

The fuss to us about the mustang shop is, they are the cheapest, and great guys to deal with that "WE" have found.

but all our sponsors are great. even if some are a bit more, they support our hobby, and forums.

If you want heads that are going to be "bolt on and go" and you don't want to have to worry about them coming with crappy springs/valves on them, Jay Allen of Camshaft Innovations sells Canfield, RHS, and TEA. They come with TOP NOTCH parts on them.

thanks for the tip, but i went to the site, and both the RHS and TEA heads say "coming soon" - none avail at present it would seem. the only ones he has are Canfield, and he says the ones he's selling can't be used with stock pistons. so won't meet my needs, but thanks for the tip.
