Electrical Trouble 1971 Grande
Once the vehicle has been running and warmed up the dashboard lights, tail lights and rear signals, side markers blink off for a while, then come back on... off, on etc....
First thing I will do is check the grounds and clean them... I did put a new headlight switch in a couple years ago so I doubt it is the switch... unless it is faulty or has a very short lifespan... any other Ideas? Thanks for the help! |
Does it happen with the headlights on only? Do you have Halogen lights in your car? If so I'd say it's the switch. That being said if you add relays to your lights the headlight switch will probably be fine with the lower current draw. The added benefit will be brighter headlights too.

Thanks Stu,
Yes, only with the headlights on... no halogens... Cleaned and eGreased the grnds - no change... Upon close inspection under the dash - remembered that I replaced the relay but am a bit fuzzy on the switch... looks pretty original... hmmm maybe beers and wrenches don't mix? So, I purchased a new headlight switch and will be changing it out this weekend. |
new switch installed... problem solved!
although - dashboard lights much dimmer than with original switch. Perhaps they were too bright before as a result of the failing switch resistor...? all good now. |
Xxxxlnt news!
