steering box
i introduced myself a few weeks ago, now for my first question.
a few years ago took apart my 69 fastback.welded in new torque boxes, frame pieces etc. now starting to go back together. it has manual stering. there are 3 washers (1/4 " thick) do they go between the steering box and the frame?? thanks mike i wil try to post some pics soon |
Hi Mike,
I have a 65 but I know the steering boxes are similar. The washers don't go between the box and frame on mine. I doubt they do on the 69. I don't recall mine having 1/4 washers. Are you sure they came from the steering box? |
On my 67, I didn't have any washers between mine either and I put in a FR box in 2 years ago so the install is fresh in my mind.
|
If those washers have a flat spot on one edge they go under the bolt head on the outside of the frame rail.
If it is a concours car the washers shoud be cad plated with a red wash. |
Wow, you guys are awesome - I didn't expect anyone would have the answer to that question!
