Car makes cranking & ticking sound, no start: 2010 GT automatic

Overnight, the driver's door did not shut properly & so I think the PAS system has kicked in. I've tried both keys, have a trickle charger hooked up, (the various things we've tried to get her run the battery down). The padlock symbol is blinking at its normal rate. When I turn the key, the engine doesn't crank but there is a loud ticking, the needles on the gauges go wonky. Then when I extract the key, the needles go back down to 0, and make another odd ticking sound.

The radio blinks on/off about five times and then the-end. I know it's not the battery and from reading the far-too-many-but-none-that-apply-to-my-situation post, I'm sure it's the Anti-theft, or PAS system.

I live out in the sticks and it's 65kms to the nearest Ford dealer and I don't to drop $300+ on a tow and some bs-diagnotic at the dealer if I can reset this syetm and situation in my own garage.

Help would be VERY HELPFUL, I have to drive my son to Montreal at7am on Monday so I need to correct this asap!

Dead battery or a bad connection. Make sure the terminals are clean and the connections are tight.

I had a car that did some of the same things your car is doing. I had 2 dead cells in the battery. It needed a new or other battery.

FYI everyone: the battery was at the end of its life. They told me the batteries are good for three years and since 'Blue Thunder' was on the show circuit for the first two years, (summers; stored over the winters), and this was its first winter in use, yeah it was reaching its 3-year end. Replaced the battery and paying attention to how long this one will last.

If you are under 3 yrs 60,000km this is a warrantable concern. Furthermore if you buy a motorcraft battery they come with a really decent warranty.
