I think Ford might be telling a bit of a white lie here with those horsepower ratings.
I'm pretty sure it's 5.0 engine, not a 5.4?

Nope, its based off the 5.4 from the 2012 GT500. I copied that straight out of an article.

Ok? This is what I read in the article that the link from this thread took me to?....Ford built just 50 2013 Cobra Jets, all of which quickly sold out. But today Ford Racing announced that they would also sell a limited number of the naturally-aspirated and supercharged 5.0 engines found in the new Cobra Jet dragsters.

I know the ones prior to this new one were 5.4's, but everything I've read on the new ones, are that they used a 5.0 with Boss heads, and other mods, but it's based off of the Coyote. Here's a link from Ford's media website

You are 100% correct for 2013, what I posted was for 2012. That's my fault, I somehow missed the part in the original article stating is was for 2013. There was a lot more info about the 2012 when I did a search.

But like the whole car, sales of these crate engines will be limited. Ford didn’t put an exact number on it, but don’t expect a whole lot of these crazy crate engines to leave the factory. Both engines use a 5.0 liter all-aluminum engine block and sport a bevy of improved parts, from Boss 302 CNC ported cylinder heads to forged H-beam connecting rods.
