OEM Springs
 

Can anyone tell me what the manufacturer was for the OEM springs installed on a 1998 cobra convertible?

The reason I ask, is I had my new car on a hoist for some new tread and alignment, the springs are Eibach, but I was under the impression that the springs had never been replaced.:?

if they say Eibach I am quite certain they aren't stock

Ford OEM springs only have the paper tag ID numbers, no manufacturer markings.

Thanks, that was what I suspected, I am trying to ascertain what was changed and what was left original as it all looks factory.

Under the hood is spotless and all factory, the exhaust is all factory, with the ford stampings, the bushings are original factory rubber, sway bars look original, yet the spring on the left front clearly said Eibach, and it had two numbers, I think it was "Eibach" then two numbers like 45/67

I had new rubber installed, a left inner tie rod done and a four wheel alignment. Other than this work I did, the service records show where the original rubber was replaced with the Eagle GT's I had removed, and an alignment when the Goodyears were installed but only oil and lube service aside from that.

The car is tight and runs like a top with only 103K km's, is there a way to get the original factory measurements to measure against to see how much lower it is?

I would likely want to put the car back to original or look into the other areas where items should be changed to ensure lowering it is not creating other issues downstream.

I'd suggest measuring from the ground to the top of the wheel openings on each corner, then see if someone here has a stocker to compare with, otherwise dig around on some other forums for an original measurement. The SN95 always looked like a 4x4 at factory ride height, as long as you don't have the Eibach Sportline springs that do a 2" or more drop, I'd suggest leaving them in. The Eibach Pro-Kit springs typically give a 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" drop.

With that mileage you might want to consider changing the dampers though, a nice set of Konis, Bilsteins, or Tokicos would improve the handling and ride over the originals. The factory 01 Bullitt or 03-04 Mach I Tokico struts and shocks work decently on a lowered car for the street.
