2012 Boss 302 vs 2011 Mustang GT

Ok here is a little comparison test between the 2011 Mustang GT and 2012 Boss 302. The Mustang GT does have the Brembo brake package, but even so look at the numbers, and then consider the difference in price between a GT and a Boss. I think for a couple thousand dollars a person could put a splitter on the front of the GT and drop it an inch or two, add the CAI with a tuner & exhaust, and you would be able to match the Boss in all aspects, probably even surpass it in some areas. Not too mention your GT would have more comforts, like Leather seats and Navi. What's your opinion? :?

Looking at those numbers a stock vs stock race is almost a drivers race to begin with. I agree, you could do a few mods to a GT and its right there with the Boss but it would never be a BOSS 302 and for me anyway, that means something.

You're absolutely right about the GT not being a Boss, and having a Boss is something special for sure. My point is that for the same $$ I am very confident that the GT would out-perform the Boss, and that seems kinda strange. If I was the proud owner of a Boss, and some kid in a GT with a couple grand into it, out perfomed me, I would be slightly disappointed, and somewhat confused. :?

I can honestly say that I never drove the 500 more than 2/10ths of its capability, I bought it for its look and name moreso than any other reason. I am with Herbz (sorry lol) and would go with the Boss more specifically the LS version. If a regular GT was faster I could live with that of coarse but remember any Mustang makes a guy a winner.

To add a Torsen diff is about $900 + labour, not available to order on the 2011 GT, can't remember how much the option was on the Boss. If you're going to do any track days, that diff works awesome. Springs and shocks are better on the Boss as well.

All depends on the intended usage of the car. If you are looking for a driver that can also do track days, might as well start with the Boss ordered with a Torsen and Recaros ... all it needs is a square tire & wheel set-up (non-staggered), more aggressive pads, and you're golden.

^^ True enough, but the GT had the Brembo Package which has much better springs than a GT, so the difference in springs really isn't all that much, other than the adjustability.

The Brembo pack GTs are still a bit soft for the track though, they need more damping from my experience. For a street car they are certainly the best deal, but as I said if you're going to be doing track days, easier to start with a Boss.

But you can get a GT with recaro's and a Torsen. I know it's still not a Boss but getting closer.

Now you can get a Torsen in a GT, but in 2011 you could not if I remember correctly ... original post was 2011 GT vs. 2012 Boss.

2013 GT optioned up, is a whole different comparison.
