'82 Capri Black Magic Progress
Well, I figured I might as well post some pics of the progress on the Capri.
Car is an '82 Capri Black Magic with 87-93 GT skirts, skins and front/rear valances on it, as well as the hatch from my '87 GT (RIP). Seats are black out of a 98 GT (purchased through CMOC), black carpet out of a 90 LX hatch, working on getting a black dash. Has the tilt column and wheel out of my '87 GT, as well as the cluster and one door. Powertrain is of course out of my '87. Note that in the engine picture, there is no tranny attached to the engine, so its sitting funny. http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadl...ngerSide01.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadl...riEngine01.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadl...versSide01.jpg |

Heads, cam, intake, TB, rockers, injectors.....etc. |
its ok but it would look better as a black magic capri IMHO
|
OK, update on progress!
1. My "150 dollar pile of crap" Harwood hood has been painted. I was a little hasty with the body work and I will probably fix a couple of things on the back of it and along the bottom of the lip and then we'll re-paint it. Still, though, for a hood I paid $150.00 for on E-bay, then the only other outlay has been paint and a few hours of labour with me sanding/prepping it.........It was still a great deal. 2. The engine was partially disassembled on Saturday to take out my TFS #1 camshaft for Nick, and my new Camshaft Innovations Billet cam went in. New FMS SVO timing chain with 8-way keyway was installed and timing set accuracy was verified by using a dial indicator on a magnetic base and checking the valve events according to my camshaft spec sheet. Luckily, the FMS timing set was dead-on accurate. The engine was then re-assembled, but I am trying to find the correct stud kit for my phenolic spacer, which looks a lot better than the threaded rod that I'm using right now. Car will soon be moving to my garage at my new house where I can finish up the interior and stuff when I have time, and hopefully get it running. That is, when I get the Town Car out of the garage............Ended up needing longer pushrods for my E7, HO cam and Explorer intake swap on the TC.....but that's another story. Some pics: http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadlam/IMG00030.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadlam/IMG00031.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadlam/IMG00032.jpg The headlights are just kinda sitting in there due to the fact that they will need to be removed anyways in order to do the front clip. I am still trying to find a nice set of marker lights for it......... |

OK, so, since the move, I haven't had a lot of time to work on the car up until recently.
Nick came over last night and helped me with the trans install, crossmember was coated with several coats of Kryptonite and Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings installed, along with new stainless bolts. I also bought a set of FMS aluminum valve covers, so I took some pics, now that the engine is sitting where it's supposed to so it doesn't look goofy :) I also got my CAI figured out so that I didn't have to cut the inner fender, and the MAF will be inside the fender. So, this is a before shot, just showing the engine sitting right in the bay, with the CAI how it's going to be routed: http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadl...ienginecai.jpg And in case nobody has seen what the big-ass ports on a TFS-R upper/lower look like, here's a couple pics, note that you can see Cobra's (from GTAMC) port work from back when he ported heads a bit in the runners: http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadlam/tfsrlower.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadl...ortcloseup.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadlam/tfsrupper.jpg And a couple pics of the engine with the valve covers installed, no upper: http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadl...installed1.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadl...installed2.jpg And one with the upper installed (just has threaded rod holding it in place, waiting on stud kit for the 1" spacer): http://www.photodump.com/direct/cadl...installed3.jpg |
Oh, and a shot of the rockers/heads to show that Mobil 1 does in fact work, hehehhhehe :)

car is gonna look good. i like the plumped out fenders ( capri ) . nice very nicerockon: thumb:
|
Chris that is coming alon very well!
Will it be done for this summer? |
I sure as hell hope so :) Is your motor going to be in this summer?
|
YES IT WILL!
I am so close just waiting on a couple more parts. |
Just to update:
NateV6 came over and helped me remove the 7.5" rear-end from the Capri. It had Traction-Lok and 3.45 gears in it, which he is going to be using in his car. We then went over and picked up my 8.8 from Nick's place, and it's slated to go in tomorrow if all goes well. The 7.5" came out without too much drama and I am re-using the stock control arms on the car because I have a pan-hard bar that is being installed, so I'm not too concerned about their lateral control capabilities. If I'm feeling ambitious, might get the valve springs swapped in the next little while, fuel lines hooked up, and then we'll see if she runs!!! |
OK, got a few more parts!
Picked up an FMS Extender II: http://my.photodump.com/cadlam/Car parts 001.jpg http://my.photodump.com/cadlam/Car parts 003.jpg And NateV6 and myself took to the fun task of putting the 8.8 in it. Damn it's heavy! I swear it weighs twice as much as the 7.5! Anyways, discovered the diff cover had a hole in it, so went to the wreckers and picked up an aluminum one off a Crown Vic: Rear has been treated with several coats of Kryptonite, with the exception of the drums and backing plates, as U-LOSE (Brent) has generously donated the ones from his car, which are in exceptional shape. http://my.photodump.com/cadlam/Car parts 001RESIZE.jpg http://my.photodump.com/cadlam/Car parts 002RESIZE.jpg Diff cover needs to be cleaned and polished still, but that can be done pretty much any time. |
Right on chris your almost done!
Its a race to see whos car is finished first LOL...Probly mine im just waiting on a Clutch, Fuel lines, Battery kit, and a couple small goodies ;) You really need to clean up those rusty headers man, you spent the time into the rearend now spend a couple on the headers lol Glad its coming along, I know you have been itching. |
Change in project direction :)
I found IRS!!!!! w00t!!!! Picked up a stainless Termi cat-back yesterday and the complete IRS assembly. http://www.darkfibrecommunications.c...irsarrives.jpg |

|
The IRS is going to be bad ass. I am guessing it should almost bolt right up ?
|
Yes, it's basically a bolt-in.
|
Well.........?
Is there any new update/progress on the Capri? |
Trying to get the brakes setup for it right now, will be hopefully trying the IRS in it this weekend.
|
you don't see many Capri's anymore
