Pretty insane cars. I'd be proud to own any one of them.

Notice how everybody seems to make a lot more horsepower when the camera isn't on? Buddy claimed his car made 909 at the wheels then only put down 730ish. Where'd that 180hp go?

I have a hard time wrapping my head around what these cars are made of today!! It's insane what "street cars" can put out, and do these days compared to "not so long ago"!!

My concern is longevity otherwise some insane numbers

I agree. Going back a few years ago 500 hp wasn't something considered streetable and they would be on the ragged edge. Now there are streetable 1000+hp cars that perform almost as good as stock in day to day driving. It's a pretty cool time we live in right now when it comes to cars anyway.

I truly wonder if these times are on borrowed time as it's getting insane

I'm sure there will be an end in the near future. Insurance companies will put there feet down, and make sure it does seeing that the fuel cost doesn't seem to effecting many peoples choices still.

In my opinion fuel cost isn't an issue as these high powered cars get decent fuel economy and if a person can afford the car they can afford the fuel. I agree that insurance will become somewhat of a factor but insurance policies are based on alot of different factors and in reality there are very few of these types of cars getting in accidents and most of these cars aren't daily driven and don't see alot of miles.

I foresee the government/greenies ending the hp wars

I think it would be hard for them to justify other than from a safety standpoint but even then I think they'd have trouble proving they are unsafe. In the 70's it made a little sense cause these kind of cars got single digit MPG but now these cars with tons more power are getting close to 30 MPG. Hard to say they are using too much fuel when they get the mileage of some import hatchbacks with tiny 4 cylinder engines.
