Lethal Performance’s 2.9L Whipple-powered 2011 Mustang runs a 10.74 @ 129 mph
 

With 525 horsepower in standard form and with the option of 624 horsepower, the Ford Racing / Whipple supercharger kit for the 2011 Mustang offers up just about as much performance as most people could want. The guys over at Lethal Performance are not “most people.” The Florida-based tuning shop have taken it one step further and replaced the 2.3L supercharger on their test car with Whipple’s 2.9L unit, allowing for more air to be squeezed into the Mustang’s 5.0L V8 engine.

Of course, with the larger supercharger installed and set to 10 psi with a custom tune by Jon Lund, Lethal Performance and UPR took the Mustang to Palm Beach International Raceway to see what it could do. On the very first pass the car ran a 10.74 @ 129 mph. Granted, the car also was packing a Lethal Performance off-road x-pipe, Magnaflow 3-inch competition cat-back exhaust system and DSS one-piece driveshaft, but it still retained the stock headers and stock suspension. Very impressive, indeed.
