East Securing Rear Valance

Follow up DIY to ensure your rear valance panel doesn't buffet around like Trumps hairdoo...

After getting the trunk back together, wiring, carpet panels, inner trunk liner I noticed that the plastic tabs that help secure the lower rear body valance to the subframe were snapped (they are not too robust).

Anyone seen those cars coming towards you with a lower splash guard flopping around like a blue whale swallowing fish? Is kinda comical. I didn't want the rear valance to buffet around when we are highway cruising. Without those plastic tiestrips, the lower valance is really weakened.

To secure the lower valance I used high density plastic tabs and drilled them to accommodate a bolt and a nut. Used some high density foam pads and glued them to the body where the tab used to land. Simply tied the two together using industrial velcro strips. Very secure and strengthens the lower rear valance. Will buy me time to see if an aftermarket valance diffuser can work.

Any recommendations for diffuser for '05 GT are welcomed.

cheers

I honestly don't think I've ever seen a set of those extenda-vice grips before, nice fix.

Yeah they are one of those go-to tools once you start using them. Also, great to start the Mesquite wood chips for the BBQ smokebox. Jesus, is 5:10 and I feel like bbqing chicken....

Best bet for a rear diffuser would be an OEM rear bumper cover from a GT500/Shelby GT/California Special.
