what started it all......

i found this the other day. it was the summer of my 16th year. this was my first car, legally on the road :) .

1984 mercury capri, with an 85 gt cobra H.O. 5.0L, holley 650, and 5spd. factory sunroof, and a mustang hatch, replacing the bubble window.

i drove the out of this poor car. i've had a few over the years, then took a serious sebatical, getting into the wonderful world of rock crawling.

when i climbed into the 2008 gt/cs i have now, i felt the same thing i felt 18 yrs ago. i was completely awestruck, butterflies in my stomach, a bit of a panic attack, and then a rush to the head when i turned the key. as this mod motor fired, and the throaty corsa exhaust barked, it took me right back to that day when i was 16. taking the 24 000k one owner CS off the lot, with it's lowered ride height, 3.73's, cai, and a killer 94 octane tune loaded in, it took all i had not to tromp on it, looking back at lessons learned when i was 16. bringing it home was a bit more fun tho, as it was an hour or so, all highway.

i will never forget that Capri, or all the fun, girls, the pioneer house speakers in the hatch, the stupid lessons learned, and that sound. the sound of a five litre.

thanx for reading, i was overcome with the need to write something, after finding this picture today.

what is your first mustang story?

Cool story and for me the birth of the Pony and me where in the same year so i guess I always admired them. I did not buy my first Mustang (new) until 90 and ever since it has been the pony. 90gt 99gt 05gt and 09 gt500. Liked them all and I don't think I will sell any Pony I now have or in the future. I almost let the 09 go but for 500.00 and in hindsight I am glad

That is awesome.Do you wish you still had the Capri?

For me it happenned by accident.
My brother came home with a new to him '85 Mustang GT back in '95.He was the second owner, which we thought was pretty cool, well anyways,i saw it,and was like yeah, sure it's cool,ad walked away.I wasn't much into them back then. Then one night we went for a short blast/cruise.I started thinking to myself, wow, this is not bad at all! Then another day he let me try it out, righ there i new i was going to an that '85 GT,it was just a matter of time.Sure enough, roughly a year later it was mine after he went, and picked up an '89 GT that was in mint condition.
I had that '85 for 6 years, and threwout that time i had brought it from a full stock GT to a very sweet mildly built hard working toy.Upgraded everything from engne/trans,diff,suspension,exhaust,ects....
I learned a lot with that car.....How to drive stick,fix,upgrade/modify,drag race, ects. Was a really fun car.The wify misses it,it was our first date car,and was there for the whole build.
