2005 Ford Mustang fills very slowly...
18 March 2005
Robert Lane Dearborn, Michigan. You pull up to the fuel pump at the local gas station and begin fueling your 2005 Ford Mustang, however, it fills very slowly. The condition may be described as, repeated fuel pump shutoffs when filling the fuel tank. According to Ford, should this condition occur, the fuel tank needs to be replaced. While Ford has told dealers to replace the fuel tanks, the dealer will only replace the fuel tanks upon customer request. Further, Ford will not notify owners of 2005 Ford Mustangs of this condition. Your Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer will install fuel tank part number "5R3Z-9002-AA" under provisions of the new vehicle warranty and the Federal emissions warranty. For more information, contact Ford at: 1-800-423-8851 or 1-800-325-5621 or click here for the Ford directory. Updated at www.BlueOvalNews.com |
Had mine replaced 2 weeks ago :tup :tup

i've already seen one replaced in a 05 GT at work. Looks like a pain in da butt. Driveshaft and exhaust has to come out to get the tank out.

I find that only happens if I stop the pump for some reason, then it just automatically stop itself while fueling...

I had mine replaced. The first time I pumped after the replacement, I had problems. But I've never had a problem since (knock on wood). It's been okay for 2 1/2 months now. OhYes05, you probably have a new fuel tank since you just recently received your car. Ford has known about this problem for a while, so the cars that would've had this problem are the ones that were built early this year (probably Jan/Feb at the latest).
