Coyote Engine Underrated
Well this is interesting....Apparently the Coyote 5.0 was underrated by Ford. I wonder was this Ford thinking the insurance companies were going to get involved, like they did in the late 60's? Anyway check this out, and if anyone here has had the chance to dyno their '11 or '12 Coyote, let us know....

Nothing new with Ford at all really.
I have read on some other sites that they usually dino high, suggesting 420-430 flyweel i believe.
a huge difference to say the least, maybe I have 560hp lol
^ put it on the dino and find out :|
Just be sure to take a video if you do SNAKEBITE.
I can believe it. I've seen a number of dyno vids of stock GT's putting down anywhere from 370-390rwhp. Ford has been known for it, the 03/04 SVT Cobras were supposedly underrated as well @390hp. I also remember watching a video of a stock Boss 429 that Ford rated @375hp on an engine dyno make almost 500hp and 600ld/ft.

Yeah, I knew they were known for doing that a lot back in the 60's, but I didn't really think it was that common these days. One thing I do know is that my '12 is much better on gas than the '10 was, and quite a lot more noticeable power, so I'm a huge fan of the Coyote!
^^^I guess so re: hp difference as you now have 100 more to start lol. Oh no dyno for me as it sounds like they are going to blow up the motor when they dyno a car. My gas pedal has not been more than half way depressed so far lol

^ Nah you could always turn the key off
that makes sense. Most people panic and crash
My '11 is going in for a custom dyno tune next month, so I will let you know what it makes then
Excellent and definitely keep us informed

Yeah I would be very interested in the stats on that custom dyno tune.:tup
Wow! Thought about putting mine on the dyno, might just have to do it now. Interested in hearing what you get Taxguy.
I will let you all know, I am just waiting a couple of weeks for parts before it goes to the shop. I am doing a bunch of suspension work as well, the wheel hop is driving me crazy!

If you drive like Gramps no wheel hop bwah

5.0 Mustang
I test drove A 5.0 Mustang. It was a automatic. Just driving 80 km/hr and then smashing the throttle and I could feel the rear start to slip a bit with the traction control on (Advancetrack). It would be ideal for these cars to have wider rubber on the back or all the way around. Just more grip and lateral support. Even the GT 500s are short of rubber. A Corvette with just 435 horepower in the Grand Sport has 11inch or more of tire wideth:wiggle:
most complain but I am fine tehehe
I notice with mine that traction is a bit of an issue, but thats with the 6 speed, and they way I drive, I doubt it will be an issue at all. I guess I'm getting old. :D
you are bwah

Well, I finally got the work done on mine. Full Ford Racing suspension has completely eliminated wheel hop and really tightened up the handling. I added nothing to engine but a cold air intake and custom dyno tune and she pulled 403 RWHP and 390 ft. lbs. I am very pleased by the numbers, but now I have an appetite for more....
We did not do a base line pull but we figure that we have added about 20 ponies so bone stock it was 380 at the wheels so 420 ish at the crank. |
congrats and now "go drive that thing" lol

403 to the wheels with just a CAI and tune....That's damn good numbers, no doubt you're pleased.
