Edge ST and return of the Ranger

Some more news from ford, well old news if you've been following the Auto Shows.

Edge ST coming this year, and a re-vamp of the Ranger, with rumours of a baby Ranger Raptor along the way.

Interesting times....the new Ranger resembles the Edge in the front end, I actually don't mind the styling, and its proposed to be a midsize pickup, along the lines of GM's Canyonaro.

I watched a video on the Edge ST, pretty slick looking vehicle with 335hp. I've always like the Edge Sport package models.

I know lots of people are stoked for the new Ranger but could they have maybe photographed it in a better colour?

I’m not sure what to think about the Edge ST. I was really excited for the Fusion Sport with the 2.7 ecoboost and I was a little disappointed when I drove one. My suspicion is that the Edge will give the same result but hopefully I’m wrong. The strange thing is that the 2.7 in the F150 performs great.

The Ranger I’m very excited about. I really hated when we lost them and the fact that we will have a crew cab is going to be fantastic as it fills the spot we had with the Sport Trac.

Interesting that it's been upsized from a small pickup to the midsize, maybe those who don't feel they need a full size will jump at it.

All decked out with the FX4 package might not be so bad, wonder what the pricing will be?

I wanted a Fusion Sport when they announced it, other things got in the way but maybe I'm glad I didn't. The styling of the 2015+ Edge does nothing for me but the ST looks a whole lot better to me.

You're right on the 2.7 in the F150, my dad has a 2016 and it's a rocket and gets phenomenal fuel economy for a truck.

I just can't get behind the smaller truck thing, a 1/2 ton is as small and practical as I can get.

A friend has the Fusion Sport, loves the car. That thing is seriously quick for a heavy mid-size sedan.

After they work the kinks out of the Ranger if I can convince wife I plan to trade the tacoma for an ecoboost ranger. Love the taco but mileage is a little worse than the stang so.... Maybe do a trade for a new mustang as well.

That sounds like a great plan

GT500 timing should be just about right for your trade.

I'm leaning towards base eco-boost lol.

Are you sure you don’t want the GT?

honestly not really. The eco is fast enough to break any speed law in North America and do it getting 30mpg or better? Plus gt prices are way to high. A premium now is 10gs more than mine was. A tune and down pipe and you're just as quick with the ecoboost.

The ecoboost does move out pretty good and I’d love to drive a tuned one. I’d love to do a fox ecoboost swap, in that light platform I think it’d be a riot.

We need the thanks/like button back. I have been thinking that since the '15s came out...drop an EcoBoost 2.3 in a nice light Fox notchback, and go have fun.

It would make a great autocross/road course car. Ford Performance has a 2.0 crate engine but they aren’t much cheaper than a coyote and the fuel system is a real challenge.

So that was you over on Taco World...The new ranger would have to be pretty good to pry me out of my Tacoma. Mine is pretty thirsty too. If Ford brings the diesel over, I might just have to take a closer look. I hate the stinkin' stuff, but can't argue with the mileage.

what' your name on taco world? I don't think I've seen you there. You won't be able to get a manual ranger so it probably is not going to happen.

iamroddy...I posted a quick pic of the mustang in the "what else is in your garage" thread and you hit the like button...

Haha! I like a lot of stuff there but don't always catch the name!

roddy 03-06-2018 03:34 PM

I wouldn't have noticed either if it wasn't for the Silly Milly...

def67 03-15-2018 09:36 AM

Saw one at the auto show in Calgary yesterday. Looks big! Bigger than my Tacoma for sure.

How was the Autoshow? I go every year but am waffling on going this year.

Apocalypse Pony 03-16-2018 07:27 AM

Thanks for the pics def, I'm still liking the look of the Ranger, interesting to hear your comment on it being bigger than your Taco.

Ohtobbad 03-17-2018 03:16 AM

I wasn't originally interested in this truck, but would love to see one
in person and what options packages they have.

I've never went before. It was good. We went the first day as soon as it opened and it was pretty slow. Good for getting around, bad for being swarmed by salesman! Were I to buy something I saw there it would be a Subaru sti wrx or a Lincoln mkz.

That MKZ is slick.

It is nice to go without the big crowds, especially the teenagers who are only in to rice rockets and know nothing about cars or kids slamming doors.

I don't think we'll make it this year.
